The Multirisk Project, from the UFRN Georisk Research Group, collaborated in the preparation of the document “Risk mapping in perspective: Applicability, limitations and future paths based on active listening to different key actors”, recently published by the Federal Government. The publication is available on the Ministry of Cities website, in the Publications tab, Peripheries section.
Researchers Leiliane Sousa de Oliveira, Caroline Barros Sales, Samia Nascimento Sulaiman, Lutiane Queiroz de Almeida and Fernando Rocha Nogueira participated in the preparation of the document, which presents the results of focus groups on risk mapping held in the second half of 2023. These groups included representatives of the National, State and Municipal Civil Defenses, public, private and collective users, as well as mappers and formulators.
The organizers highlight that this was the first initiative to bring together more than 100 people from different institutions, bodies, associations, public administration managers and employees, teachers and researchers, social movements, community groups, public prosecutors, private institutions, experts and technicians. The objective was to evaluate the limitations and potential of risk mapping in preventive and anticipatory actions in the territory.
The Multirisk Project is carried out by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte within the scope of the Georisk Research Group, under the coordination of professor Lutiane Almeida.
