MPF and Comunica will report on oil on beaches

A partnership signed this Friday, 8th, between the Federal Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Norte (MPF-RN) and the Communications Superintendency (Comunica/UFRN) will guarantee the production of information about the oil spill on the coast of Rio Grande do Norte. The proposal envisages the production of advertising material (spots) to be broadcast on FM Universitária and distributed among community radio stations and partner broadcasters.
The intention, according to the MPF, is to inform the population about this environmental disaster in a simple and direct way, erasing any sign of false news that could harm the work to restore the beaches and the continental sea. The action is proposed by the Unified Incident Command, which, on a daily basis, has been producing content about the oil slicks that have appeared on the coast of Rio Grande do Norte since September.
This group is made up of municipal, state and federal institutions, including UFRN, and civil society. The group has been meeting systematically to discuss solutions regarding the arrival of more oil slicks on our beaches. With the partnership signed, the University, which already provides various services in partnership with the MPF and the Environmental Defense Institute (Idema), expands its participation, as Comunica becomes part of the Unified Command.
For the superintendent of Comunica, Sebastião Faustino, this partnership is part of the process of integrating the new management and aims to contribute to the social role of the University at this time of great difficulty faced by states and municipalities. “We want to help on all possible fronts”, he reinforced.
