Registration is now open for the course Queer imagination in contemporary Brazilian cinema, part of the Mostra Monstra extension project, from the Department of Social Communication (Decom/UFRN). The course, which will take place on the 11th, 12th and 13th of August, from 4pm to 6pm, remotely via videoconference, proposes a deeper understanding of the debates surrounding the term queer, through examples from cinema and other imagery manifestations. Classes will be through slides, with the display and analysis of film fragments and registrations can be made through Sigaa.
The idea is to understand the complexity and political power of these debates, which access images in a way very different from traditional heteronormative aesthetics, seeking in them the eccentric, the rare, the artificial, the subversive, the perverse and the erotic. Classes will be taught by researcher, curator and director André Antônio, PhD in Communication and Culture from UFRJ. André is also a professor at the Superior Course in Photography Technology and the Specialization in Cinematographic Studies at Unicap, and a founding member of the collective Surto & Deslumbramento.
To participate in the course it is not necessary to have a link with UFRN, however, residents of Rio Grande do Norte will have priority. Mostra Monstra is coordinated by professor Rodrigo Almeida, more information about the project can be found on Instagram.
