1. ABOUT THE COURSES
1.1 Instituto Ágora offers courses in German, Spanish, French, English, Libras, Hebrew, Classical Greek, Modern Greek, Latin and Portuguese (the latter, EXCLUSIVELY for foreigners).
1.1.1 All information regarding the Portuguese for Foreigners Course can be found in item 8 below.
1.2 Courses in Libras, Hebrew, Classical Greek, Modern Greek, Latin and Portuguese are also offered to external audiences.
1.3 Courses are offered in the following modalities:
1.3.1 BASIC – is available for all languages listed in item 1.1, except Portuguese for foreigners (see item 8 below). It is divided into four levels (I, II, III, IV) and aims to develop the four linguistic skills necessary for different communication situations (listening, speaking, reading and writing);
1.3.2 READING FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES – is available for the English language (level I) and aims to enable the student to grasp reading strategies that will allow them to understand texts, facilitating the development of their research and other academic activities in a foreign language, as well as preparing them to take proficiency exams for academic purposes.
1.3.3 CONVERSATION – currently available for English, French, Spanish and German, it is divided into two levels (I and II) and aims to improve the student's mastery of orality in the foreign language.
2. ABOUT REGISTRATION IN COURSES
2.1 Each candidate can enroll in only ONE of the courses offered by Instituto Ágora. (At the end of this notice, all classes and schedules offered for the 2017.2 period are listed).
2.2 Anyone who is ACTIVE in any of the courses offered by Instituto Ágora will not be able to enroll in another course. CANCELLATION of this contract must be requested to the Ágora secretariat before the start of the selection process.
2.3 Registration for Instituto Ágora courses is made on the UFRN SIGAA public portal, through the SELECTIVE PROCESSES tab and then through the SELECTIVE PROCESSES – COMPLEMENTARY TRAINING icon, respecting the order of access to the system, which will be available from 12:00 p.m., during the appropriate period, set out in item 7.
2.3.1 Once the aforementioned area is accessed, the candidate will find a list of all classes offered this academic semester, identified by language and class times. 2.3.2 By clicking on the desired class, the candidate will have access to the total number of vacancies there, the number of vacancies still available, the investigative questionnaire on the candidate's profile (which is MANDATORY to complete) and the registration form.
2.3.3 In the investigative questionnaire, there is the possibility for the candidate to request the right to take a Placement Test.
2.4 Registration will be complete when the System generates the message on the screen: REGISTRATION SUBMITTED, which will only be validated upon proof of GRU payment.
2.5 Registration for the Conversation courses will be carried out, in person, at the Instituto Ágora Secretariat only for those who have already completed the basic course of any language at the Institute, in the appropriate period, stated in item 7.
2.6 For those candidates who already have a level in any language offered by Instituto Ágora and can prove it through certification, it will be possible to register for levels III and IV or Conversation of the English, French, Spanish and German courses. To do this, the candidate must deliver a copy of the level certification to the Ágora Institute Secretariat, which will be evaluated by an Examining Committee, in a specific period, contained in item 7.
2.7 Registration made via SIGAA will be automatically CANCELED after 15 days from the beginning of the selection process if GRU is not paid and proof of payment is not sent.
2.8 The external public must register in person at the Ágora Institute Secretariat, on a RESERVE REGISTRATION list, for the English, German, French or Spanish languages, in order to occupy vacancies at levels III and IV or Conversation, on a single date, contained in item 7.2. 2.8.1 The external public that registers in the RESERVATION REGISTRATION must also submit
