Bringing together researchers from USP, UNISINOS, UNB, UNICSUL and UFPA, as well as scholars from France and the Netherlands, the II International Interdisciplinary Communication and Discourse Colloquium began at the UFRN Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts, with a lecture by UFRN visiting professor Daniel Vanderveken, from the Université Du Québec, who spoke about “Illocutionary Acts In Ethics And Deontic Logic”, which in a free translation is “Acts Illocutionaries in Ethics and Deontic Logic”.
The event is the result of efforts by the postgraduate program in Language Studies, in partnership with the Department of Literature and the research group on Textual Analysis of Discourses at UFRN, continuing until June 9th, in auditorium “D” of the CCHLA at UFRN.
The director of CCHLA and organizer of the Colloquium, professor Dr. Maria das Graças Soares Rodrigues (UFRN), stated that the event was important due to the talents involved, highlighting their qualifications and remembering that some are creators of theories, therefore being a great intellectual investment for research, teaching and extension, “in these modern times linguistics is at the heart of communication and teachers necessarily need to have information in linguistics”.
The director recalls that nowadays even judges invite linguists to better understand testimonies in the forensic area. Another participant, USP professor Marinês Batista Campos highlighted the importance of training Portuguese teachers, while her colleague Ana Lúcia tinôco Cabral, from UNISUL, highlights that we must “train critical subjects who are able to place themselves in the world and read their objectives in society in a useful and appropriate way”.
Those interested in participating must register at the event location. The classes taught at the meeting will be in French and preceding the planned activities there will be a course taught by renowned linguists Prof. Zlatka Guentchéva (Researcher at the Conseil National de Recherche Scientifique, at the Laboratoire Lacito) and Prof. Jean Pierre Desclès (University of Paris Sorbonne).
