Last Friday, May 26th, the new members of the Georisk Research Group met to present and discuss individual projects. The purpose of this seminar, according to coordinator Lutiane Almeida, is to share ideas and knowledge that can strengthen research efforts around themes involving risks, vulnerabilities and exposure to disasters.
On the occasion, the scientific dissemination fellow, Mariana Silva, presented possibilities to renew Georisco's visual identity and the proposal to renew the website, which was accepted by the Group. Furthermore, students Jeferson Gomes, Mariana Costa, Jamily Araújo and Thiago Santoro presented their research proposals (some already in progress) and received contributions from Georisco's most experienced researchers. The activity involved the exhibition of master's projects in Geography, monographs and scientific initiation.
“Participation in research groups is highly beneficial for the training of Geography students, as it offers the opportunity to deepen knowledge, obtain practical experience, collaborate with other researchers, develop transferable skills and increase academic visibility”, says Almeida. The exchange between researchers contributes to a more complete training, preparing students to face the challenges of a career in Geography and to contribute to the advancement of geographic knowledge. “This collective work is one of the pillars of Georisk”, highlights the coordinator.
