The Research Group on Irish Studies of the Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures (DLLEM), of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) promotes Bloomsday, from June 11th to 13th, in Auditorium D, of the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts (CCHLA) and in the Onofre Lopes Auditorium of the School of Music. The event starts at 9 am and will feature a dramatic reading of The Playboy of the Western World, in Auditorium D. Registration can be made on site.
Held since 1986 in Natal, Bloomsday, initially focused on the work of Irish writer James Joyce, began to cover other themes of Irish and English culture and literature. In the 2019 version, the event will be held in partnership with members of UDC – União de Debates Competitivos, EMUFRN – Escola de Música da UFRN and IMWA – Instituto de Música Waldemar Almeida. Bloomsday is annually organized by research professors who are members of the Irish Studies Research Group/CNPq.
