Group from the Department of Geography carries out participatory research to map Covid-19 in Greater Natal

The Environmental Dynamics, Risks and Spatial Planning Research Group (Georisk), from the Geography Department of UFRN, is carrying out a Participatory Research for the Mapping of Covid-19 in the Metropolitan Region of Natal -RN, which aims to carry out participatory mapping of suspected and confirmed cases of COVID-19 Greater Natal, based on the perception of residents, obtained by filling out an electronic form ( https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSffI7seULMYxmrg1xbr9tsnfQzgRmMpI1q606i6mMrFnLSnyw/viewform ) .

"The idea is to map the neighborhoods of Natal and the metropolitan region to find out which neighborhoods have the most cases of the disease without notification, and thus contribute to the Public Power so that there is a planning of testing actions for the disease. In other words, City Halls and the State will be able to direct which neighborhoods should focus on carrying out COVID-19 tests", highlighted Professor Dr. Lutiane Almeida, research coordinator.

The research also has a partnership with the Disaster Research Center (NUPED-UFRN), and collaboration with the Laboratory of Geographic Climatology and Water Resources (LCGRH) of the Department of Geography at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), being coordinated by Prof. Dr. Lutiane Queiroz de Almeida and Dr. Marysol Dantas de Medeiros and researcher Jhonathan Lima de Souza.
