To celebrate its 10 years of creation in 2021, the Georisco research group, from the UFRN Department of Geography, is holding the GEORISCO international seminar, with the collaboration of the Disaster Research Center (NUPED-UFRN). The program, which starts on May 28th and runs until September 10th, features four conferences by renowned researchers on the topic of Disaster Risk Reduction.
The first conference, on May 28th, which also takes place in celebration of Geographers' Day, will be given by Professor Irasema Alcantara Ayala, from the Institute of Geography of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), on the theme Integral Management of Disaster Riesgo: a geographic vision.

The second conference will be given by Professor Gonzalo Bacigalupe, from the University of Massachusetts (USA), on June 25th, at 3 pm, on the topic El disaster COVID19: A lost opportunity for the collaboration authoridad-ciudadanía.

The third conference will be given by Professor Ilan Kelman, from University College London, on July 30th, at 10 am, on the topic Why are natural disasters not natural?
