The Georisco Group, from the Disaster Research Center – NUPED, which is part of the UFRN Coronavirus Combat Committee, presented new results from the Covid-19 participatory mapping research in Greater Natal, called “Coronarisk Task Force”.
The survey asked respondents whether there was anyone in their household who fell into the Covid-19 risk group. The group analyzed the number of diabetics with or without other comorbidities and observed that the neighborhoods of Lagoa Nova, Capim Macio, Candelária, Ponta Negra, Pitimbu, Potengi and N. S. da Presentação had higher absolute numbers in the capital of Rio Grande do Norte.
“In neighborhoods with lower human development indices, there will be more difficulties in receiving care from the SUS (close to collapse) and there will be difficulties in recovering from the disease”, highlighted the researchers. This information could be useful for the health departments of RN and Natal, as it quantifies and locates 1,181 people in a group for COVID-19 in Natal with diabetes (exclusively or associated with other comorbidities).
