Georisco and Comunica launch documentary about the João Câmara earthquakes

The GEORISCO research group from the Interdisciplinary Center for Research on Disasters, from the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts (CCHLA) in partnership with the Superintendence of Communication of UFRN – COMUNICA released the video “O bala da Samambaia”, which tells the story of the earthquakes that occurred in the city of João Câmara, in 1986. The video is available on Youtube.
The audiovisual production brings different descriptions, impressions and reports about the consequences of the earthquakes that occurred in the municipality of João Câmara, in the Rio Grande do Sul region of Mato Grande. The video exposes the experiences of different social actors (residents, public agents, researchers) in the municipality of João Câmara when witnessing or having subsequent experiences when dealing with the seismic shocks generated by the geological fault located in the town of Samambaia.
The approximately 14-minute video was directed by Sandra Sousa, institutional production coordinator at Comunica; Wallacy Medeiros and Sandra Souza in capturing images; Gabriel Florentino, Jhonathan Souza and Manuela Torres in production; Paulo Medeiros, Maria Costa and Mylla Acsa in editing; the collaboration of Dyego Rocha and the scientific consultancy of Jhonathan Souza and Professor Lutiane Almeida, coordinator of Georisco.
