Conviv’Art Gallery hosts exhibition inspired by Turkish ceramic art

The UFRN Art and Culture Center (NAC) hosts the Regina Guedes exhibition, inspired by the study of the Ottoman dynasty, ceramic art from Türkiye (1400-1700). The exhibition will open on Wednesday, 18th, at 7pm, at Galeria Conviv’Art, located in the NAC building. The public can visit the exhibition until December 20th, from 9am to 5pm.
Retired professor from the UFRN Arts Department, Regina Guedes, brings around 60 items to the exhibition, all produced by her. There are plates, vases, panels, tiles, snack dishes, among other pieces with designs inspired by Turkish ceramic art.
“I started developing the idea for this exhibition last year, when I was visiting the Metropolitan, an art museum located in New York, in the United States. During this period I became very involved with the Ottoman dynasty, which is the ceramics that came with the Moors to southern Europe”, reveals the professor. Last year, Regina Guedes went to the American museum 11 times to study the technique used to produce the pieces.
All items on display, starting this Wednesday, in the gallery, can be purchased by visitors and can be used in everyday life, for decoration or even for personal use, as the material used in the composition of the products is the same as that used in industry. "But I make each piece individually. I paint them, burn them, glaze them and paint them with alkaline enamel", he explains.
The teacher reveals that after retiring she has immersed herself in ceramic art institutes in the United States. It is there that she has produced and exhibited her art in recent years.
