The professional and personal life story of NASA structural engineer, Gabe Gabrielle, will be the highlight of the Aula Magna of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), which officially opens the 2020.1 academic semester on March 5, at 9 am, in the UFRN Rectory auditorium. Entitled To infinity and beyond, the lecture aims to motivate young people based on the example of Gabe Gabrielle himself, who was once a hat maker at Mc Donald's, spent 20 years graduating from college and, later, became an engineer at the North American aerospace agency.
“Do your best, enjoy what you do and believe in yourself”, summarizes the speaker, arguing that these three tips are the key to living a work routine free of stress or pressure. For Gabe, the most important day should be today, when you should take advantage of the positive points to build good memories of the past, be happy in the present and have good expectations for the future.
The official NASA speaker was personally invited to give the Aula Magna by the rector of UFRN, José Daniel Diniz Melo, who received the engineer's visit in August 2019, when he was in Natal to give lectures in public and private schools. The initiative was part of the UFRN extension project entitled NASA in Natal: to infinity and beyond.
"Gabe Gabrielle's example shows that it is possible to make dreams come true in the midst of difficulties, as well as awakening young people to the aerospace segment. The city of Natal has a vocation for this area due to its own historical context, therefore, we can say that the lecture is motivational, educational and cultural", says professor Dino Lincoln, coordinator of the extension project.
