EMUFRN receives performance by Canadian violinist

Next Tuesday, the 6th, the School of Music at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (EMUFRN) will host a recital by Duo DC², which is formed by Canadian violinist David Colwell and Brazilian pianist Durval Cesetti. The presentation, which is an initiative of the Canadian Embassy in Brazil in partnership with EMUFRN, starts at 8pm, with free entry.
The program takes place at EMUFRN's Onofre Lopes Auditorium, and features pieces by Polish Karol Szymanowski, Belgian César Franck and Canadian composers Claude Champagne, Kenneth Leslie, Sophie-Carmen Eckhardt-Gramatté, Denis Gougeon and Alice Ho, as well as the famous sonata for violin and piano by Belgian César Franck.
The musicians
Professor at the University of Kansas, Canadian violinist David Colwell works as a soloist and chamber musician in concerts in the United States, Canada, Europe and the Middle East. He has performed recitals and masterclasses in several internationally renowned institutions.
Durval Cesetti, from Brasilia, is a professor at the UFRN School of Music and holds the title of Honorary Visiting Professor at the Tianjin Conservatory of Music (China). With a PhD from McGill University, he has performed in theaters in countries such as the United States, China and Canada. He was described by critic Claude Gingras (La Presse, Montreal) as “a pianist of rare musicality”.
