History Department promotes film exhibition

The Department of History (DEHIS), at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), organizes the film exhibition Fragments of a Greater Sense – Films from Africa and the Diaspora. The event, which takes place at 4:30 pm, in auditorium D of CCHLA, has a program that extends throughout the second semester. The sessions are open to the general public and begin on September 13th with the film Soleil Ô – Ó Sol, by Med Hondo, from 1967.
The exhibition's programming aims to provide and encourage the experience of cinematographic productions by black directors, viewing them as a form of resistance and an alternative to historiography and discourses of power, as works that can give rise to an unprecedented approach and allow for renewed perspectives on Africa, the diaspora and blackness, thus supporting the appreciation of material culture, music and African images.
