The Department of Philosophy at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) is organizing the mini-course “Thinking politically from the Global South”, which will take place on April 16, 17 and 18. The event will feature the participation of Professor Suze Piza, from the Federal University of ABC.
The mini-course will take place daily from 3pm to 6pm, in Auditorium C of the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts (CCHLA). Registration is open through SIGAA.
The course aims to explore the rich political tradition of the Global South, especially in Latin America, which develops a political theory based on the concrete demands of the people. Theses confronted with reality will be discussed, questioning liberalism's conceptions of politics, political subjects and democracy. The program will address fundamental concepts of this tradition, with references to authors such as Enrique Dussel, Ernesto Laclau, Chantal Mouffe, Nelson Maldonado Torres, among others.
