The Department of History (Dehis) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) promotes another session of the Cinema Cycle Fragments of a Greater Sense: Films from Africa and the Diaspora, with the screening of the Senegalese film Ceddo, on December 7th, at 2:30 pm, in Auditorium 1 of the Ágora Institute. The session is open to the general public.
Before showing the film, a presentation will be made contextualizing the theme, the directors, the work's production space and the protagonists. At the end, a space will be opened for debate, including the participation of the public and members of the event. Later, readings will be indicated according to the theme covered in each session.
Cinema Cycle
The Film Cycle Fragments of a Greater Meaning aims to provide and foster the experience of cinematographic productions by black directors, viewing them as a form of resistance and an alternative to historiography and discourses of power, as works that can give rise to an unprecedented approach and allow for renewed perspectives on Africa, the diaspora and blackness.
