The research group Spaces in modernity, from the Department of History, in partnership with IFRN, produced the documentary A Província Moderna (Natal, 1900 – 1930). Historical in nature, it reconstructs some features of the city of Natal in the first three decades of the 20th century. The text is by professor Raimundo Arrais, the script by professor Artemilson Lima (IFRN) and the editing was carried out in the IFRN studios (Central Campus). Artemilson and Raimundo are directing and the narration is done by Clotilde Tavares.
The group, in constant activity since 2008, investigates how spaces are defined and transformed in the modern context. It is organized into two lines of research: The city and territorial transformations and City and identity. It is coordinated by professors Raimundo Arrais and Raimundo Nonato, both from the History Department, and with the collaboration of professor Hélder Viana.
With a long cycle of presentations and debates, the documentary is now available on YouTube. More information about the documentary and the group can be found at the link.
