DEHIS shows film Baba Aziz next Thursday

Next Thursday, the 13th, the Department of History (DEHIS) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) will hold another edition of the film exhibition Fragments of a Greater Sense: Films from Africa and the Diaspora, with the screening of the film Baba Aziz – The Prince Who Contemplated His Soul. The event takes place in auditorium 1, at Instituto Ágora, from 3pm.
Baba Aziz is a work produced in 2005, by director Nacer Khemir. In addition to showing the film, there will also be prior discussions contextualizing the work and the topic covered, with a debate at the end of the event. Anyone interested can participate.
The initiative is coordinated by professor Susana Guerra, from DEHIS, and the purpose of the exhibition is to promote and foster the experience of cinematographic productions by black directors, viewing them as a form of resistance and an alternative to historiography and discourses of power. The idea is to present works that can give rise to an unprecedented approach and allow for renewed perspectives on Africa, the diaspora and blackness.
