DAN and PPGAS hold the 20th Anthropology Week

The Department of Anthropology (DAN) and the Postgraduate Program in Social Anthropology at UFRN (PPGAS) are promoting the 20th Anthropology Week, with the theme “Relearning the world: environment, health and food”. The event takes place from the 3rd to the 5th of November in person, with activities in Natal, at UFRN, and in Tibau do Sul.
Anthropology Week is a space that allows for closer professional relationships between teachers and researchers from various institutions in the country and abroad. In 2022, the Week will celebrate the expansion of the area of ​​knowledge at UFRN, with the institutionalization of the administrative structure and organization of the training of academic activities within the scope of postgraduate studies.
The meeting enables the socialization of work, research, themes, as well as the problematization of current issues and a critical reflection on the place of anthropology in relation to other social sciences and humanities. In this edition, the event will address topics such as the environment, health and food and access to other fundamental rights, such as territory, housing and sanitation in today's world.
On the 3rd, the opening of the Anthropology Week will take place at 9am, followed by the Christina Larrea Conference, at 9:30am. There is also, at 11am, the launch of books that are related to the theme of the event. At 2pm, there will be the formation of Working Groups and, at 7pm, a presentation with the theme “Relearning the world: care, therapeutic practices and uncertainties”.
On the 4th, another presentation will take place at 9am, this time on “Relearning the world: the environment and sustainable territories”. At 1pm, other Working Groups are formed for postgraduate students. In the evening, at 7pm, the Pipa agroecological fair takes place, in addition to a conversation circle and the presentation of the “Sustainable Knowledge” project website.
On the last day, November 5th, from 9 am to 11:30 am, there will be a presentation with the theme “Relearning the world: culinary traditions, innovations and tourism”. To end the week, activities will take place at 2:30 pm with indigenous and quilombola communities, focusing on the appreciation of local products, cultural projects and sustainable tourism.
