The Audiovisual course at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) will hold, this Friday, 22nd, at 6pm, the Cinema no Circo, the first audiovisual show of the 2021.2 class. The show takes place at the Bisteca e Bochechinha circus, in the parking lot of the Via Direta shopping mall, with free entry and open to the public.
Gerardo Muniz, Audiovisual student and creator of the exhibition, tells how the idea for the event came about and what his expectations are for it. "The initiative for the event arose mainly due to the location of the space. I have worked at the circus since the beginning of the year and I always wanted to do a show there. When the need came to create an event like this for the class to present their end-of-term work, we realized that Decom's auditoriums did not accommodate the expected number of participants and it was a very academic place for what we were idealizing."
Still expressing his vision for the exhibition, the student explains that academic initiatives need to go beyond the walls of the university to democratize access to culture and art. Due to more openness to the external community and greater capacity for visiting audiences, the idea of the circus show came about, which unites the popular universe and the reality of the university.
"Watching short films, which is a cool experience, within a circus, which is a popular environment, will add more culture, more diversity and, above all, more democratization in access to the arts. It is very important that people honor the independent audiovisual, the UFRN audiovisual, which received the highest rating in the evaluation by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep)", continues Gerardo.
The exhibition is aimed at those who like and already know short films and will cover different topics, from music videos to films, from the most serious to the most relaxed. The student also explains that the event will be very different and constructive, mainly because something like this has never been done in the city in a space like the circus.
