UFRN Audiovisual Course achieves maximum grade

The Social Communication – Audiovisual course at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) achieved the maximum grade, concept 5, in the on-site evaluation of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep). The degree achieved academic excellence in the dimensions of teaching staff, didactic-pedagogical organization and infrastructure.
For the course coordinator, Rodrigo Almeida Ferreira, the evaluation is “the result of continuous work of many years and many hands, which involves the entire community of the Social Communication – Audiovisual course and the Department of Social Communication, between teachers and students, technicians and outsourced workers”, the professor also highlighted the collective commitment, in the fields of teaching, research and extension; the permanent commitment of the Rectory; and the support of the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts (CCHLA), the Superintendency of Communication (Comunica), the Coordination of Monitoring, Planning and Academic Assessment (Copav) of the Dean of Undergraduate Studies (Prograd), as well as other vice-rectors, the Own Assessment Committee (CPA) and the Zila Mamede Central Library (BCZM).
UFRN's institutional educational attorney, Fabiano do Espírito Santo Gomes, explained that the course achieved maximum marks in the first evaluation, for the graduation recognition process. The professor highlighted that the result is the result of the commitment of the people who are part of the bachelor's degree, as well as the Policy for Improving the Quality of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses at UFRN, which focuses on academic excellence.
In the opinion of the Audiovisual Course Coordination, the new Pedagogical Project, which came into force in the first academic period of 2022, brought the degree in accordance with all guidelines in the area in national terms, in dialogue with the market and also incorporated new features such as the curricularization of the extension.
“The course is part of a much larger and complex process, which needs to be permanently improved in all its instances: in quality, free and diverse training, in encouraging the production of films and other works, in access to equipment, laboratories and studios, in the development of accessibility projects, in circulation, distribution and exhibition, through exhibitions and festivals”, analyzes professor Rodrigo Ferreira.
In the Inep report, the evaluation committee highlighted that "the Social Communication Course – Audiovisual, has, based on the outlined scenario, excellent conditions for maintaining and developing its training proposal. In this sense, it is concluded that the Course presents, with merit, the qualities necessary for its Recognition".

The bachelor's degree in Social Communication - Audiovisual is offered in person, in the afternoon and evening shifts, totaling 40 semester vacancies that result in 80 annual vacancies.
