Note of Repudiation – CCHLA Council

The Council of the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts – CCHLA, which constitutes a training center for the Humanities, bringing together 12 in-person Undergraduate Courses, 03 distance Undergraduate Courses, 11 Bachelor's Degree Courses, 11 Postgraduate Programs that offer 11 academic master's courses, 10 doctorates and 05 professional master's courses, publicly repudiates, vehemently, the statements by the current President of the Republic and the Minister of Education regarding teaching and research in the area of Humanities, notably with regard to Philosophy and Sociology courses. In total disagreement and lack of knowledge about the specificities of the production of knowledge in the Human Sciences, these declarations and threats that call into question or attack the practice of the humanities constitute a disrespect for teachers, researchers and students who act with responsibility in the systematization of knowledge that allows reflection and criticism about man, society and historical processes that must, necessarily, be analyzed from the plurality of perspectives that are indispensable not only to cultural and social development, but also to building a fairer and freer society. We therefore reaffirm our commitment to combat attacks on public universities and humanities courses and we will continue to defend public, universal and quality education so that full citizenship is achieved for everyone.
