The Right to the City Forum and Núcleo Natal Metropolis Observatory, from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), promotes the Right to the City course, the Sustainable Development Objectives and Public Policies in times of Covid-19. The event takes place today, June 15th, at 6:30 pm, in the Auditorium of the Engineering Technological Complex (CTEC).
The Course will debate urban and territorial issues in the Metropolitan Region of Natal, especially within the scope of UFRN. The activity responds to the collective call of the training program led by the National Urban Reform Forum, a project led by: Habitat for Humanity Brazil, the National Metropolis Observatory and the Center for Economic and Social Rights, with support from the European Union. The course will meet, in person, between June and September 2022, with representatives of popular movements from Natal and the Metropolitan Region to build a theoretical-practical base capable of strengthening the activities of participants in their territories and agendas of origin, through discussions on Urban Reform.
Today's event marks the opening of the course. The program is open to the interested public. This Wednesday, the discussion will be on the Right to the City and Urban Reform: trajectory and perspectives, from the perspective of professor Orlando Alves dos Santos Júnior (National Forum for Urban Reform and Observatory of the Metropolises) with mediation by professors Ruth Maria da Costa Ataíde (Department of Architecture – UFRN) and Alexsandro Ferreira Cardoso da Silva (Department of Public Policies – UFRN), also counting on the participation of representatives of the popular movements enrolled in the course.
