The Literature department of the Center for Human Sciences, Literature and Arts at UFRN promotes the “Classic Authors Reading Club” project, which proposes meetings in the format of conversation circles about works from classical antiquity.
The meetings will welcome both academics and people from the general public interested in the topic. Each meeting will be about a different work of theater, poetry or prose, which must have been read beforehand by the participants.
The interaction will take place in the form of an open dialogue, with the discussion guided and enriched by a coordinating teacher who will bring more specialized information to the conversation. The works were previously chosen according to their intertextual interest for contemporary times.
The meetings will take place on the dates indicated below and will deal with the works respectively highlighted:
March 10 – tragedy “Medeia”, by Euripides;
April 7 – tragedy “Agamemnon”, “Coephoras” and “Eumenides”, by Aeschylus;
May 5 – tragedy “Oedipus the King”, “Oedipus at Colonus” and “Antigone”, by Sophocles;
June 2nd – epic “Iliad”, by Homer;
