Cine Tiresias has a session with a debate on the film I, Daniel Blake

The Interdisciplinary Center for Studies in Sexual Diversity, Gender and Human Rights (Tirésias) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), promotes the first Cine Tirésias of the year, starting with the film I, Daniel Blake (2016), shown on Thursday, April 11, at 6:30 pm, in Auditorium D of the Center for Human Science, Letters and Arts (CCHLA). After the screening there is a debate with Angela Facundo (DAN/UFRN) and Cristina Dias (Amélias).
The film tells the story of British Daniel Blake, who, after a cardiac arrest, leaves work and seeks financial assistance from the government. In the midst of bureaucracy that almost drives him crazy, he meets a single mother in the same situation and they develop a strong friendship. The film addresses topics relevant to the global situation, such as unemployment, access and guarantee of labor rights and social security.
I, Daniel Blake is a critique of the loss of social rights in a globalized world, showing the precariousness of public services and the lack of guarantees for the rights of the two characters.
