Cine Tiresias promotes a session with debate on the film Estrela Além do Tempo

The Interdisciplinary Center for Studies in Sexual Diversity, Gender and Human Rights (Tirésias) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) promotes another edition of Cine Tirésias with the film “Stars Beyond Time” (2016) on May 9, at 6:30 pm, in Auditorium D of the Center for Human Science, Letters and Arts (CCHLA).
The film, nominated for an Oscar in the film and adapted screenplay categories, addresses issues such as the challenges faced by black women scientists in science and technology, demonstrating, at the same time, some forms of manifestation of racial segregation in the USA in the 1960s. The original title of the film in English “Hidden Figures”, which can be translated as “Hidden Figures”, points to the existence of people who, like the three scientists on screen, have their lives and contributions silenced.
After screening the film, debate with Kally Lopes (M.U.T.E) and Vandiner Ribeiro (CE/UFRN).
