Ciné-Club Lumière shows horror classic “Les Diaboliques”

The Ciné-Club Lumière, an extension project dedicated to French cinema at the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts (CCHLA), will hold a special screening of the psychological horror film “Les Diaboliques,” which inspired the famous “Psycho” (1960) by Alfred Hitchcock. The session will take place in CCHLA Auditorium C on October 24th, at 2 pm. The event is open to the public, and registration can be done in person.
This event is part of “Horror Week,” which will take place in Setor II, CCHLA, and Instituto Ágora, from October 24th to 27th, along with other extension projects.
Film Synopsis:
Set on the premises of a boarding school run by the tyrannical Michel Delassalle, husband of Venezuelan immigrant Christina, “Les Diaboliques” delves into the gripping narrative of psychological horror. Delassalle secretly maintains an affair with professor Nicole Horner, a relationship known to Christina. However, contrary to expectations, the two women end up forming an unexpected bond due to the frequent abuse and beatings they suffer at the hands of Delassalle. In an audacious twist of fate, they decide to conspire and murder him. Executing an intricate plan, the murder appears to be successful, but soon after, enigmatic events begin to unfold, leaving the women suspecting that Delassalle may be alive and seeking revenge.
