The Geography Tutorial Education Program (PETGeo), from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), invites everyone to the IV Café Geográfico, which takes place this Thursday, May 16, from 2:30 pm to 6 pm, in the Sônia Campos Ferreira Auditorium of the Zila Mamede Central Library (BCZM). The theme of the event is: Mass landslides and dam failures: the reflection of negligence!.
The action aims to discuss the most recent and notable cases of disasters in recent years in Brazil, from the perspective of three different areas (geography, psychology and engineering), in addition to providing a richer and more comprehensive reading about the causes and effects of these types of disasters.
In this edition, the debate table will be made up of three professors from UFRN who have experience in the area of risks and disasters, they are: Lutiane Queiroz de Almeida, from the Department of Geography, Pitágoras José Bindé, from the Department of Psychology, and Ricardo José Matos de Carvalho, from the Department of Production Engineering.
The Geographic Café, held by PET Geografia since 2016, aims, through professionals able to deal with the proposed themes, to bring to academia and society debates that demand a deeper and more plural reflection on the cases, with the collaboration of geography and other areas.
Registration is free and takes place at the event location and is open to the entire public. Furthermore, certificates of participation will be made available on the PET Geography page for those who attend.
