Colorful drawings that refer to the fauna and flora of Rio Grande do Norte and elements of Brazilian folklore now appear on the external wall of the Câmara Cascudo Museum. On Thursday (20), UFRN's Bachelor of Design students, guided by Helena Rugai Bastos and Elizabeth Romani, worked on producing drawings and paintings of the arts that now make up the landscape of Rua Pastor Jerônimo Gueiros.
The action is one of the prints of the project proposed in the Graphic Reproduction Techniques discipline, for students in the second semester of 2022. During the activity, the class of 40 people was divided into 6 groups, so that they could design the composition of the wall. Previously, the teachers responsible for the subject invited the four designers who developed MCC's current visual identity, to promote a dialogue about the elements that could make up the work.
With the aim of understanding the difficulty involved in producing the molds with equipment available in the university's laboratory-workshop, the students were challenged to use different materials in the activity, such as x-ray plates, cardboard, paraná paper, box cutters and scissors. Students also tried different ways of applying paint, such as rollers, sponges and brushes.
The wall becomes another attraction at the Câmara Cascudo Museum, which is open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 8:30 am to 5 pm. Visiting the museum can be done freely, without the need for an appointment, or with the assistance of our mediators, only on Saturdays, at 10am or 3pm. Other information is available on the website: www.mcc.ufrn.br.
