Student João Pedro Costa, 20, from the Advertising and Propaganda course, from the Department of Social Communication (Decom), at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), had an advertising piece selected and published by one of the most important advertising portals in the world, Ads Of Ther Wold.
The idea for the work came from writer Luiz Manhães and the student João Costa himself, also art director at the RAF Communication Agency. “Our proposal was to try to revisit the old (magnetic) tapes, which were customary to give to lovers in the 1980s and 90s, with compilations of romantic songs and the like”, he explains.
João Pedro says that, after completing the work, called “Every love story has a remarkable track”, it was broadcast on a local radio's Instagram and then the idea of exploring the work's potential arose further, having been submitted and then approved on Friday, July 19th.
“The surprise arrived by email, where we received confirmation that it had been accepted by the platform's curators, which filled us with joy for the recognition not only of our work, but for having another work from Rio Grande do Norte, like others who have also managed to get there, which seeks to enhance the creative advertising market here in Natal”, he says.
João Costa, poet, writer and also graphic design, an area he has worked in since 2018, argues that Advertising students must always remain attentive to the market to be successful in their work. It draws attention, however, to the fact that experimental production is essential for this.
"I believe that, as a professional, and still so young, restricting myself to some segments could harm my development. I believe that experience in the most diverse areas of the market could shape me for better training in the future", he states.
