The 2nd Brazilian Congress of Public Communication, Citizenship and Information (2nd ComPública) has an open deadline for students, researchers and professionals in the field to submit expanded abstracts of scientific works. Shipping can be done until June 30th. The submission page and the information required for submission can be accessed on the ComPública page.
The event, which will be held at the Communication Department (Decom) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), between October 16th and 18th, will offer the opportunity to present research, promoting the exchange of experiences, reflections and ideas. With work divided into six Thematic Groups (GTs), authors of research in the area will have the unique possibility of interacting and learning with their peers.
Journalist and researcher Patrícia Paixão, coordinator of the Congress's scientific committee, reaffirms the importance of participating in GTs. "The structure of the Thematic Groups was designed to cover the most important themes and sub-themes of public communication. We are sure that they will generate excellent debates and reflections to update this vital field of research for society", he highlights.
For the coordinator, the area of public communication is one of the most relevant when we reflect on democracy, citizenship and social justice. “In times of misinformation and attacks on the Democratic Rule of Law, as we have experienced in the last six years in Brazil, public communication emerges as a possibility for restructuring the country, as an important pillar of the human right to communication”, he reinforced.
Patrícia Paixão also explains that, in addition to the oral presentation at the congress, the complete works will be included in a publication of the event. "The approved scientific articles will be published in an e-book, offering a great contribution to the field of study of public communication. This makes participation in the GTs even more relevant", he concludes.
