Book “Coruja de Trapo”, by Literature professor Andrey Pereira, wins Literary Prize from the National Library Foundation

Northeastern literature celebrates yet another achievement with third place for Coruja de Trapo in the 2024 Literary Prize of the National Library Foundation, in the Poetry category – Alphonsus de Guimaraens. Written by professor at the Department of Literature at UFRN, Andrey Pereira de Oliveira, and published by CEPE Editora, the book marks the author's debut in non-academic literature and stands out on the national scene.
Andrey's first book of poetry, Coruja de Rago departed from the model of his previous publications, which include three academic books released by EDUFRN, all based on his literary research. Regarding the creative process, Andrey says that the work was built based on creative freedom and an engaging game of words, without structuring or a pre-defined message. "In general, I start the writing itself when an image or a rhythmic measure appears to me. At first, I don't rationalize much and let myself be carried away by the sound game or the unusual approach of the words", reveals the author.
Winning the national award was received with enthusiasm by Andrey. "I was very happy with the result of the National Library Literary Prize, which is one of the most traditional and respected literary prizes in the country. Having the book highlighted among the three best, in a set of hundreds, is a joy. If this helps bring more readers to the book, even better!", says the author, who expresses his gratitude to CEPE Editora for the trust and opportunity for publication.
With poetic depth and the central theme being the perception of time and the inevitability of perishing, Owl of Rags is established as an unmissable read for literature lovers. It's worth checking out!
