Decom student exhibition shows the daily lives of dancers

Observe the experiences and realities of dancers at the Alberto Maranhão Theater Dance School (EDTAM). This is the proposal for the photographic exhibition When My Body Touches the Sky.  The exhibition is promoted by Rierson Marcos Maia and Ingrid Torres, students from the Department of Social Communication (Decom/UFRN). The photographs are on display until December 31st at Choupana Café, located in Capim Macio, Natal/RN. Entry is free.
The exhibition has more than 30 photos of five dancers. The portraits were created by Rierson Marcos, an Advertising student, based on a documentary made as a Course Completion Work (TCC) by journalist Ingrid Torres. The dancers' narratives show the artists' life stories and singularities, allowing the public to emerge in different social contexts, linked by the love of dance.
The future advertiser explains that the act of photographing communicates stories, memories and subjectivities. For him, it is a pleasure to tell people's stories. "Participating as a photographer was a very significant and unique experience. Until then, I had never done anything like it, which mixed photography, dance, identity and a sense of belonging, things that I have a lot of appreciation for", comments Rierson. He also reports that the initiative made him reaffirm his interest in the arts as a whole, but, mainly, in the craft of immortalizing memories through images.
The exhibition is curated by professor Manu Freitas, from Decom/UFRN. She was responsible for choosing the images to compose the scene. In total, more than 100 records were analyzed.
