Throughout 2024, university radio and TV broadcasters, members of the National Public Communication Network (RNCP), have stood out in the journalistic and scientific scene. In November, broadcasters from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) received awards that reinforce the relevance of their productions to the public debate.
Awards won by UFRN broadcasters
Rádio Universitária FM (FMU/UFRN) and TV Universitária (TVU/UFRN) stood out in the 11th Fiern Journalism Award, promoted by the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio Grande do Norte (Fiern). The two broadcasters won the first three places in the awards, which aim to recognize the work of the local press.
FMU had two highlights in the Audio Journalism category. In the area of Professional Education and Research to Boost Industry, the broadcaster presented research on offshore wind energy in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. In the Industrial Management on the Agenda axis: Internship, Career Development and Executive Training, the award-winning report had as its theme the training of new leaders for the job market, focusing on students and their professional trajectories.
TVU won in the Professional Video category with the report Building the Education of the Future. The announcement addressed the use of robotics as an inclusion tool in the field of education for people with autism. In August, TVU had already won first place in the Sebrae Journalism Award, in the University Journalism category. The award-winning report was Pequenas Grandes Empreendedoras – The impact of the feminine strength of Rio Grande do Norte.
Continuous recognition
These awards highlight the importance of university broadcasters not only as communication channels, but also as vehicles for disseminating knowledge and social inclusion. Furthermore, the awards obtained by UFRN broadcasters illustrate the University's commitment to excellence in the production of audiovisual and radio content, contributing to the strengthening of university journalism.
