The Department of Social Communication (Decom) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) are open for registration for the second edition of the ISD Immersive School in Scientific Journalism. The extension project, carried out in partnership between the two institutions, will select up to 30 Social Communication students for an immersion that will take place from December 3rd to 5th, in theoretical-practical activities on scientific journalism and health communication.
Registration is open until Sunday, December 1st, and must be made using an online form. At the end of the event, participants who complete the course load will receive a certificate for 12 hours of participation in an extension project.
During the three days of activity, students will participate in theoretical-practical workshops that will address different topics, from the principles of bioethics in research to how to find and filter reliable scientific information. The workshops will be taught by researchers from the Postgraduate Program in Neuroengineering and preceptors from the Multiprofessional Residency in Health Care for People with Disabilities at ISD.
The Immersive School in Scientific Journalism will take place from 8am to 12pm, at two ISD units: the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS) and the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (Anita), both located in Macaíba (RN). Daily, ISD provides chartered transport between Natal and Macaíba, with pre-defined routes, which can be used by participants selected to participate in the event.
Students from any period who are studying a degree in Journalism, Audiovisual or Advertising can register. The selection will be made based on the analysis of letters of intent sent by interested parties. The letters, with a maximum size of one page, must contain a brief presentation of the person registered, as well as their motivation for participating in the project.
