UFRN hosts seminar on feminism, technology and violence against women

The Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) hosts the seminar “Urgent Feminism: how Big Techs, Redpill and the machosphere are organized in the exploitation and hatred of women”, which will be held on May 6th (Wednesday), in the auditorium of the Department of Communication (DECOM), at 6pm.

The activity will feature two external speakers. Bruna Camila (MG), who in her research managed to infiltrate redPill communities, was interviewed on the podcast “O Assunto”, on G1. Also participating is Tica Moreno (SP), a researcher on digital sovereignty, who has been in China in recent years and is an international reference in debates on feminism and technology.

The event is a partnership between extension groups from UFRN and the State University of Rio Grande do Norte (UERN) with the Centro Feminista 8 de Março and the mandates of councilor Brisa Bracchi and deputy Isolda Dantas.

The seminar takes place in a context of escalating cases of violence and the organization of groups that propagate hate against women. The initiative is part of the commitment to end violence against women and invites institutional representatives to participate in the activity, in addition to encouraging the presence of students interested in the topic.
