UFRN offers course “Investigating in Uncertain Worlds” for postgraduate students

The Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) promotes, between April 8th and 10th, the extension course “Investigating in Uncertain Worlds”, aimed at postgraduate students in the areas of social sciences, anthropology and public health. The proposal is based on the diagnosis that social sciences are increasingly called upon to act in contexts of uncertainty, such as pandemics, environmental crises and disputes over rights, for which traditional models do not always offer sufficient answers.

The training addresses ethical and methodological dilemmas that emerge when the research field is unstable, rights are in dispute and the role of the researcher is constantly questioned. With a studio format, the course combines theory, field experiences and collective production among participants.

Check out the program:

↳ Wednesday 04/08 · 4pm–6pm — institutional ethics vs. ordinary ethics (hybrid)

↳ Thursday 09/04 · 2pm–6pm — cartography of uncertainties (in person)

↳ Friday 10/04 · 9am–12pm — from dilemmas to tactics (in person)

↳ Friday 10/04 · 2pm–6pm — master class with José Vicente Tavares (hybrid)

The course will be taught by Alfonsina Faya Robles, from the Université de Toulouse, and will feature the participation of speakers José Vicente Tavares, from UFRGS, and Carlos Guilherme do Valle, from UFRN. The coordination is by Juliana Melo and Julie Cavignac, linked to UFRN, CIRS and the CAPES-COFECUB program.
