The Formation of Colonial Spaces (FEC) research group, from the Department of History (Dehis/UFRN), is promoting, between June 25th and 27th, 2025, the 4th Cycle of Debates on the Formation of Colonial Spaces. The event takes place in auditorium B of the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts (CCHLA), at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN).
The meeting will publicize the results of research carried out by the group, promoting academic discussions on topics related to the colonial period. According to Dehis professor, Lígio Maia, “the objective is to bring together teachers, researchers and students at different stages of training, whether undergraduate or postgraduate in History.”
The opening of the event takes place on the 25th, at 10 am, with the Teaching and Colonial Themes table, followed by lectures on indigenous history and heritage education. The program includes round tables, workshops, mini-courses, book launches and poster presentations. On the 26th and 27th, the debates will address topics such as institutions, powers, markets in the colonial world and historical archeology of colonial settlements.
The event is attended by representatives from other higher education institutions, such as the University of Pernambuco (UPE), Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG) and State University of Santa Cruz (UESC).

Participation is open to the public and aimed at anyone interested in discussing topics related to history, teaching and research on the colonial period.
