Exhibition 51×76 celebrates Cuban posters and Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano with three events at UFRN

The Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) will host a special program with the exhibition 51×76: Cuban Posters for Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano, which will feature three events between the 8th and 10th of April, bringing together cinema, graphic art and critical debate. The exhibition continues until April 11th.
The first event takes place on Tuesday, April 8, at 7pm, in the auditorium of Instituto Ágora (UFRN). The activity features the lecture "Cuban Poster. Latin American Cinema", given by professor Sara Vega Miche, from the Cinemateca de Cuba, an international guest who came to UFRN through the Dean of Postgraduate Studies (PPG/UFRN). Mediation will be by professor Sebastião Albano, from the Department of Social Communication (Decom/UFRN). The meeting proposes a reflection on the role of posters in the context of Latin American cinema and the visual force that accompanies these productions.
On April 9th (Wednesday), at 4pm, the conversation circle “51×76: Dreams in ICAIC Posters” will take place at the VIVART Gallery – NAC at UFRN (located behind the Zila Mamede Central Library). The chat will once again bring together Sara Vega Miche and Sebastião Albano, who will discuss the behind-the-scenes, dreams and techniques behind the posters produced by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC).
The program ends on Thursday, April 10th, at 7pm, with a new edition of the debate “51×76: Cuban Posters for Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano”, then with the screening of films, also at the Instituto Ágora at UFRN, bringing more analyzes on the dialogical relationship of works in relation to politics, aesthetics and memory.
Professor Sebastião Albano, who organizes the arrival of the Cuban professor, also mediates and curates the events. He highlights the importance of the collection presented: "These posters are cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO, true works of art. Graphic art is often not valued as visual art, and professor Sara Vega helps us understand this production process."
The exhibition remains open to visitors until April 11th. The entire academic community and the general public are invited to participate in this visual and reflective immersion into Cuban cinema and graphic art.
