The Observatory of Latin America and the Caribbean, in partnership with the Olga Benario women's movement, runs the course “Women's participation in the Cuban revolution: armed struggle and political emancipation”. The activity will take place at the Center for Human Sciences, Letters and Arts (CCHLA) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and will have professor Dr. Larissa Riberti as speaker.
The solidarity course aims to collect donations of essential items that will be delivered to the Cuban consulate. Registration will be carried out by donating these materials.
Since the 1960s, Cuba has faced an economic embargo imposed by the United States, directly affecting the country's economy and making it difficult to import food, medicine, fuel and other items considered necessary for the population. In recent years, sanctions have been expanded, deepening the impacts on living conditions in the country.
According to the organizers, even in the face of difficulties, Cuba maintains actions in the areas of health, education and science, in addition to defending its sovereignty.
The course “Women's participation in the Cuban Revolution: armed struggle and political emancipation” proposes to discuss the role of women in the Cuban revolutionary process, associating political training and internationalist solidarity.
The activity will be held on May 28th, at 7pm, at CCHLA. Registration takes place via an online form.
