Conference on neoliberalism and subjectivity

Professor Emiliano Sacchi, member of the National University of Comahue and researcher at CONICET, who is currently carrying out a research internship at PPGFIL at UFRN, will give the lecture “Neoliberalism and Subjectivity in the Colonial and Patriarchal Capitalist Context” on May 27th.
On the occasion, some contributions from contemporary political thought to the understanding of neoliberalism will be discussed, addressing Foucault's interpretation of neoliberalism as a justification for governing and producing subjectivity, centered on the model of competition and the business form (an analysis that allows us to recognize microphysical aspects of neoliberalism obscured by conventional approaches).
Faced with the increasingly violent mutations of contemporary capitalism, the rise of the so-called new right, the global alliances between neoliberal policies and the retrotopical imaginaries of racist and sexist neoconservative agendas, it is necessary to question the expropriation and violent character of contemporary forms of accumulation and, based on the immanence between economic production and subjective production, the role of this violence, its colonial and patriarchal history, in the reconfiguration of government devices and forms of subjectivation.
