UFRN professor launches French version of the book “Utopia para o presente”

Professor Alipio de Sousa Filho, from the Humanitas Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), will launch this Thursday 26th, in France, the French edition of his book originally published in Brazil in 2022. The publication will be launched and sold by the publisher L’Harmattan, in Paris.
The translated work is the French version of the book “Utopia para o presente”, published by Paco Editorial, in São Paulo. In the book, the author analyzes the existence of social institutions that impose avoidable suffering on human beings in contemporary societies, such as social conventions or cultural standards that produce oppression and feelings of inferiority due to ideological ideas such as race, sexuality, gender, or institutions that produce hunger, xenophobia, obstacles to the migration of people, prisons, dictatorships.
The book's proposal is to encourage society to be able to imagine another reality for collective human life, one that includes reforms and the abolition of certain social institutions. “Imagining is necessary and a new utopia becomes imperative!”, states the author.
