Professor Rozeli Porto, from the Department of Anthropology (DAN) and the Postgraduate Program in Social Anthropology (PPGAS) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), was the winner of the 3rd Zahidé Muzart Prize, granted by the Institute of Gender Studies at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC).
The award celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Institute of Gender Studies (IEG/UFSC), a reference in feminist and gender studies in Brazil. Rozeli Porto was recognized in the “Trajectories of feminist thought” category, which included a commission made up of 24 researchers. In total, five theses were selected from 22 nominees.
The professor's research was defended in 2009, at PPGAS/UFSC, under the guidance of Miriam Pillar Grossi. The work was recognized for its contribution to gender studies and for the impact of the reflections initiated at the Center for Gender Identities and Subjectivities (NIGS/UFSC) and later expanded in the GCS/UFRN group.
The award honors Zahidé Lupinacci Muzart, a pioneer of feminist literary criticism and gender studies in Brazil. In its third edition, the honor marked IEG/UFSC's two decades of activity by recognizing work that contributed to the institution's intellectual production.
The achievement was celebrated by PPGAS/UFRN, which congratulated Professor Rozeli Porto for recognizing her trajectory and her contribution to gender studies and feminist thought.
