The Postgraduate Program in Philosophy at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (PPGFIL/UFRN) holds, from September 21st to 25th, 2026, the III International Philosophy Seminar – Memory and Finitude, at UFRN.
The event will bring together researchers from different institutions in Brazil and abroad in a program consisting of conferences, short courses and work presentations. The activities will address themes related to memory, finitude, temporality and the thought of Martin Heidegger.
The program will be divided into two moments. On September 21st and 22nd, the pre-event will be held, while the main program will take place from September 23rd to 25th.
The 2026 edition marks five decades since the death of Martin Heidegger (1889-1976), a central thinker in contemporary philosophy. Based on the theme “Memory and Finitude”, the Seminar proposes to discuss the impact of his thought on different areas of knowledge and his critical reception in the face of recent philosophical approaches.
The program also includes studies on different aspects of Heidegger's work, from ontological and existential issues present in Being and Time to discussions related to technique, art, language and the history of being.
With an open proposal for interdisciplinary dialogue and philosophical rigor, the event seeks to promote reflections on the legacy of Heidegger's work, his impasses and his contributions to contemporary philosophy.
Registration for participation as a listener is open at SIGAA.
