The Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) will participate in the program celebrating the 70th anniversary of the publication of Grande Sertão: Veredas, by João Guimarães Rosa. The meeting will be held on June 30th, at 2:30 pm, at the Instituto Guimarães Rosa São Tomé, in São Tomé and Príncipe, with free entry.
Promoted by the Instituto Guimarães Rosa São Tomé, the activity pays homage to one of the main works of Brazilian literature and proposes a revisit to the themes, characters and language of the novel.
The program will feature the participation of Professor Jovania Perin, Reader Guimarães Rosa at the University of São Tomé and Príncipe, Professor Tânia Lima and UFRN Literature graduate Maria Luíza Dutra. The researchers will address different aspects of Grande Sertão: Veredas. During the meeting, Tânia Lima will speak about orality in the work of Guimarães Rosa, while Maria Luíza Dutra will also participate in the discussions.
After the presentations, the film Grande Sertão, directed by Guel Arraes, a film adaptation inspired by the novel by João Guimarães Rosa, will be shown.
The event is part of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the publication of Grande Sertão: Veredas, a landmark in Brazilian literature and a reference for literature in the Portuguese language.
