The Department of Arts (Deart) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) promotes “Dance Degree Week: Ways of thinking and seeing dances in the city and university”. The cultural and academic event takes place from October 4th to 6th and has as its main stage the Jesiel Figueiredo Laboratory Theater, in addition to the Deart Sector Library.
Wednesday (October 4th)
The program starts at 8 am and continues until 9 pm, with a Book Exhibition by Dance course teachers, which is available to the public at the Deart Sector Library during all days of the event. At 4:30 pm, dance lovers have the opportunity to watch the open rehearsal of Gaya Dança Contemporânea, entitled “Entre Olhares e Ventos”, directed by Larissa Marques, at Teatro Laboratório Jesiel Figueiredo.
The night continues with the dance performance “Nuvem de Pássaros”, by Cia. da Cidade, scheduled to take place at 7pm. To close the first day, at 8:10 pm, a conversation about the UFRN Dance Course is planned, with the participation of teachers.
Thursday (October 5th)
The activities begin at 3:30 pm with an open class on “Somatic Practices: mobility and stretching”, in Room 1 of Deart. At 6:45 pm, a chat with Adeilza Gomes da Silva Bezerra, representative of Formartes/Natal, further enriches the event. Immediately afterwards, at 8pm, the public will have access to a presentation by the group Themonias, with an LGBTQIA+ Dance performance. At 8:30 pm, a dance show will be shown on the screen, with videos created by students of the Dance/UFRN course subjects. All these activities take place at the Teatro Laboratório Jesiel Figueiredo.
Friday (October 6)
The last day of the Dance Degree Week begins at 4:30 pm, with an open rehearsal by the UFRN Dance Group, under the direction of Teodora Alves. At 7:30 pm, a themed table on “Dance production in the capital of Rio Grande do Norte” provides an analysis of the cultural scene in Natal, with the presence of experts such as Mainá Santana, Willy Helm, Rosa Costa and Wanie Rose Medeiros.
